Luke Shaw next club tips
FootyOn look at Luke Shaw next club tips after Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s latest quotes suggest he could be sold.
The relationship between Red Devils boss Mourinho and left back Shaw appears to be at an all-time low, as speculation mounts over his future.
When asked why he had left Shaw out of the Man Utd squad for the goalless home draw with West Bromwich Albion, Mourinho criticised the player’s attitude in training.
“Luke Shaw? It was difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with [Matteo] Darmian, with [Daley] Blind,” Mourinho said.
“The way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition, I cannot compare. He’s a long way behind.”
Bearing that damning indictment in mind, we look at Luke Shaw next club tips below.
He is 13/8 with Sky Bet to remain with Man Utd, but that doesn’t look likely…
Tottenham favourites as next destination
Both Sky Bet and BetVictor have markets open on who the player will sign for before the end of the summer transfer window, and Spurs are 4/1 favourites with both firms.
This price is based upon apparent interest in White Hart Lane left back Danny Rose from Manchester City.
Shaw also formed a strong working relationship with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, as he played for him at Southampton.
His displays at St Mary’s earned him a big money to Man Utd in the first place, so reuniting with a coach who has got the best out of him makes sense.
Liverpool looking for left back
Not many players cross the divide between the reds of Manchester and Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp is looking out for a left back.
Some of Shaw’s ex-Saints teammates play at Anfield, notably Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.
Klopp has played regular midfielder James Milner at left back for much of this season, despite him being right-footed.
For all the controversy this potential switch could cause, it would allow Shaw to remain in the Northwest.
Everton an alternative up north
Long-serving Toffees left back Leighton Baines will need replacing eventually.
Shaw fits the bill for stepping into his shoes nicely.
Ronald Koeman will expect the Everton hierarchy to continue investing in his squad this summer.
High-profile signings may help in persuading the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley to stay at Goodison Park.
Don’t rule out return to Southampton
There’s also the possibility that Shaw will head home to Saints.
Ryan Bertrand, who came in as his replacement, could go back to Chelsea if tabloid reports are accurate.
That would leave Claude Puel needing someone to step in.
Southampton have been a selling club since returning to the Premier League, but spent big on Italy forward Manolo Gabbiadini in January.
Is that a sign Saints are changing tack? Shaw is 14/1 to return to St Mary’s this summer with BetVictor.
