Liverpool looks likely destination according to Ryan Sessegnon next club tips
FootyOn give Ryan Sessegnon next club tips, as Fulham’s teenage sensation at left back gets in Championship Team of the Year.
Few English footballers outside the Premier League are as highly-rated as Sessegnon.
Not to be confused with former Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion attacker Stephane, Ryan was born in the year 2000.
Feeling old yet?
As he doesn’t turn 17 until mid-May, Sessegnon hasn’t signed professional terms yet, but is expected to.
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has shown no compunction about that, though, and has played him regularly this season.
Sessegnon has scored seven goals and made four assists for the Craven Cottage club in all competitions this term.
His nomination by fellow professionals in the PFA’s Championship Team of the Year is a huge accolade.
That will surely have got top Premier League clubs circling for Sessegnon’s services.
Bearing that in mind, we give Ryan Sessegnon next club tips and here are some suggestions where he can take the next step.
All quoted prices below are from Paddy Power and correct as of 12:45 BST on Saturday, April 22.
Logical that Liverpool heads betting
It is well-known that Liverpool are looking for a natural left back to add to Jurgen Klopp’s ranks at Anfield.
Versatile ex-England international James Milner has filled in admirably, but is a midfielder by trade.
Unlike other Premier League clubs, Liverpool actually have recent evidence of plucking Football League players and giving them game-time.
Fellow defender Joe Gomez broke into the Reds’ first-team following a transfer from Charlton Athletic before he got injured.
That are encouraging signs for Sessegnon, so Liverpool are 13/5 favourites to sign him before the transfer window closes.
Everton an alternative on Merseyside
Toffees stalwart Leighton Baines cannot go on forever down their left-hand side.
Given Everton’s financial clout following a takeover towards the end of last season, they could rival Liverpool for Sessegnon’s services.
Ronald Koeman has shown both at Goodison Park and while in charge of Southampton that he is prepared to play youngsters.
Europa League football and the chance of being understudy to Baines, for a season at least, might be an attractive alternative.
Sessegnon is a 4/1 shot to be snapped up by the Toffees this summer.
Arsenal also among those interested alongside Tottenham
Press reports also claim north London duo Arsenal and Spurs have had the player scouted.
It is hard to see at this stage how firm Tottenham’s interest can be, but the Gunners are understood to be in the market for a left back.
A player that is more the finished product would be preferable, but Arsene Wenger has always planned for the future – however precarious his own might seem at the Emirates right now.
Arsenal are shorter than Spurs in the betting on Sessegnon’s future at 9/1.
Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, is another manager who places his faith in youth and is 11/1 to bring the player across the capital.
Other hopefuls at 11/1 are Hammers, Magpies, Saints
Three other teams are at the same odds as Tottenham in the market.
Southampton’s status as a club that develops young players like Sessegnon is well-documented.
Just ask Gareth Bale or Luke Shaw, who both played left back in their teens at St Mary’s.
Any chance of Saints signing Sessegnon seem to hinge on another club buying Ryan Bertrand, though.
West Ham United, meanwhile, could bring him across London, but have Aaron Cresswell to come back from injury.
Newcastle United should soon seal their Premier League return, but may be outbid by other clubs with bigger budgets and more to offer Sessegnon.
