The Algeria international said the following: “Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on.
“I had a good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.
“However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.”

Ligue 1 champions Monaco currently lead the way with the bookies, and are odds-on at 4/6 for Mahrez to join them before the end of the transfer window.
The Principality outfit are expecting some of their key player to leave this summer, despite qualifying for the Champions League, as they seek to ply their trade for a higher profile team and earn more wages.
That could also be a stumbling block for Mahrez, as reports suggest that Monaco can’t afford the Algerian’s current salary, but they may be able to if they gain funds from departures.

Mahrez was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, along with Jamie Vardy, but both ended up staying at the King Power stadium.
The Gunners, with or without Arsene Wenger, need to spend big this summer in order to get back into the Champions League, and Mahrez would be perfect due to his Premier League experience.
Arsenal also have a big French-speaking contingent, with the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud, Francis Coquelin and Mathieu Debuchy all being from there.

Fellow north London outfit Spurs could also be in the hunt to sign Mahrez, who would be joining one of the most promising teams in the world if he goes there.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs look as though they are set for better things and can surely match Mahrez’s ambitions and style.

At 20/1, PSG are outsiders to sign Mahrez this summer but, as mentioned above he was born and raised in Paris, he may fancy a move back there.
While the Parisians may have came second this year in the French top-flight, they can almost certainly guarantee titles and Champions League football every season.
On top of that, there is no doubting that they’d be able to afford his wages, unlike Monaco.
