Everton head Marten de Roon next club tips
FootyOn experts assess the market and give Marten de Roon next club tips, with Everton front-runners to sign him.
Middlesbrough midfielder De Roon popped up with another key goal for the Teesside team with the winner against Northeast and relegation rivals Sunderland.
Five goals across all competitions from a deep-lying position in his maiden campaign in England is impressive.
Although Boro pulled clear of the Black Cats, they have still shared their fate of Premier League relegation.
De Roon, who cost The Riverside outfit around £12m, is nowe a prime asset to be sold.
Who is circling for his services?
BetVictor have a market open, so we take a look at that and give Marten de Roon next club tips…
Betting headed by Everton
The Toffees have a Dutch manager in Ronald Koeman and two midfielders will soon be in the final year of their Goodison Park contracts.
Veteran anchorman Gareth Barry looks likely to see out his deal on Merseyside, as he is first-choice.
Ross Barkley, meanwhile, has the threat from Koeman of being sold hanging over him if he won’t commit to the club.
Although well-stocked in the engine room, thanks to the likes of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin, Everton have financial muscle to flex.
Adding another options ahead of what looks like a Europa League campaign next term to their squad makes sense.
Stoke also a shout
Mark Hughes often uses his reputation as a great player to attract names to clubs he manages.
De Roon’s fellow Netherlands internationals Ibrahim Afellay and Bruno Martins Indi are two examples of that.
As things stand, both Charlie Adam and Stephen Ireland will be leaving the Potters this summer.
Glenn Whelan will also be into the final year of his Stoke City contract, alongside a number of other veterans.
Younger legs may be needed before that, though, with renewal an important aspect of Premier League stability.
Serie A return a possibility headed by Napoli
Atalanta, the club De Roon signed from, certainly haven’t suffered from his absence and remain on an upward curve.
Any player involved in that club’s resurgence will have attracted suitors from other Italian sides.
That may explain why Napoli are 4/1 second-favourites to bring De Roon back to Serie A.
A cautionary tale may ward him off the Neapolitan team, though.
Compatriot Jonathan de Guzman excelled at Swansea City and then moved to Naples, but the transfer wasn’t successful.
Moreover, all of Napoli’s current midfielder options are under contract until at least 2019.
Eternal City rivals Roma and Lazio are 12/1 alternatives apiece, and may appeal for different reasons.
Roma stalwart Daniele De Rossi’s deal ends this summer, and Kevin Strootman has one year left on his.
The latter has always been injury-prone, so De Roon could potential replace his fellow Dutchman.
Lazio also have some Netherlands natives on their books, notably defensive duo Wesley Hoedt and Stefan de Vrij.
Eredivisie big three all 16/1 shots
A Dutch return cannot be ruled out either, and the likes of heavyweight trio Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven are attractive.
These Eredivisie big boys often sell their talents, meaning De Roon could easily walk into any of their sides.
At 26, though, he is entering his prime and has shown enough to suggest he can play at a higher level.
The betting has all of Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV at 16/1 to secure De Roon’s services.
