Liverpool summer signings: Mane replacements
Liverpool have been dealt a massive blow to their chances of finishing in the Premier League top four this season, as star player Sadio Mane has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
After suffering a knee injury in the Merseyside derby with Everton, it’s been confirmed that he requires surgery.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are now 5/2 with Sky Bet NOT to finish in the Champions League places.
It’s no coincidence that the Reds suffer without the Senegalese attacker.
They’ve not won in any of the four PL fixtures in his absence – losing twice – while they’ve won just one of nine in all competitions, which was a narrow 1-0 FA Cup replay victory over Plymouth Argyle.
As a result of the worrying news for the Reds, and no set date on his return, the club might be forced into buying a high-profile replacement.
So, read on to find out our potential Liverpool summer signings and Sadio Mane replacements…
Long-serving Borussia Dortmund attacker Reus has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of years.
And what better club to do so at than with his former boss Klopp, who helped him become the player he is today?
Now 27, Reus has a number of years left in him, though injury issues may be a factor in clubs going for him.
Still, he’s 17/2 with Paddy Power to sign for the Reds this summer.
Celtic forward Dembele is one of the most sought-after youngsters around.
Reds fans will delighted that he’s favourite with Paddy Power to join them this summer too.
However, BetVictor beg to differ, giving him odds of 10/1. So, take the latter if you are confident he’ll go to Anfield!
With 32 goals in all competitions this season in a number of attacking positions, Dembele would be an excellent addition.
A cheaper option could be Arsenal’s Oxlade-Chamberlain.
He may not have lived up to his potential in recent season, having suffered from form and injury issues.
But people forget he’s still only 23 and, with 25 England caps under his belt, can only aid the Reds’ attack.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been used in a number of positions this season under Arsene Wenger, including unfamiliar roles in defensive midfield and right back.
His versatility would also be a plus for Klopp, whose also had to play James Milner at left back. But no doubt he’d prefer to play on the wing.
BetVictor, Paddy Power and Sky Bet all say he’s favourite to join Liverpool this summer, but the latter have the more tasty odds at 4/1.
Another English attacker features on our potential Liverpool summer signings and Mane replacements list.
It’s fair to say that Gray has (will, if the Foxes claim the Champions League this season) won basically all that he will at Leicester City, after their remarkable PL triumph last term.
A move to Liverpool could suit the talented winger, and he’s favourite with both Paddy Power and BetVictor at 6/1 to do so this summer.
Another interesting choice could be a German forward grabbing headlines in the Bundesliga.
Werner, 21, has played a big part in helping newly-promoted high-flyers RB Leipzig get to second place in the table at the time of writing.
With 15 goals in 25 appearances so far, he’s fourth in the Bundesliga top scorers list.
Klopp may well swoop for his compatriot, who earned his first cap to date this year, and he’s 3/1 favourite with BetVictor to sign for the Reds this summer.
