Ivan Perisic Man Utd transfer a good move?
FootyOn look at the potential Ivan Perisic Man Utd transfer and analyse if it’s worth the hassle for Jose Mourinho.
The Perisic Man Utd transfer tussle has become one of the summer’s ongoing sagas.
Inter Milan’s Croatia wideman looked destined for Old Trafford, but the Italian club are still aiming to retain his services.
Perisic’s price tag has been a stumbling block during negotiations so far in this transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are believed to be holding out for a mammoth £48,000,000 for the 28-year-old.
Inter have also enquired about the possibility of taking France youngster Anthony Martial as part of any deal.
But is Perisic worth all the hassle for Mourinho this summer?
Mourinho: “We need more…”
Mourinho has already been busy this summer with high-profile signings of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.
Though, he has made it clear that he wants further acquisitions as he builds a side capable of challenging for silverware next term.
“We don’t have our door closed. We are not happy with just Lukaku and Lindelof. We need more,” said Mourinho.
Having seen Inter stand firm on their valuation of Perisic, Man Utd look set to finally give in and land the attacker.
It also helps the Red Devils’ cause that the Nerazzurri are set to land Lazio’s Keita Balde, which could smooth the departure of their current Croatia star.
There are plenty of sceptics over Perisic’s possible arrival on the red half of Manchester.
But the statistics to back up his talents and recent performances in Serie A make for good reading as a Man Utd fan.
Promising Perisic Man Utd transfer
Perisic enjoyed another successful last campaign with Inter, racking up an impressive 11 league goals.
He also managed the same number of assists for the season in Serie A, proving his eye for a killer pass.
The former Bundesliga-winning Borussia Dortmund forward finished behind only top scorer Mauro Icardi this past season in the Nerazzurri goal charts.
Despite criticism and claims of not being suited to Man Utd, Perisic seems more than capable of slotting into the current side.
Being regarded for both for his defensive work and his attacking contribution, Mourinho clearly sees him as a key potential addition.
Another vital aspect of his game is his superb crossing ability, something Mourinho is especially insistent on drilling into his wingers of late.
Perisic had a much bigger crosses-per-game ratio last term compared to that of Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
With new arrival Lukaku having scored the third-most headed goals in the Premier League since 2012/13 with 18, Mourinho may see that as a great creative pairing to have within his ranks.
After securing a return to the Champions League via a Europa League triumph, Mourinho will be keen to oversee further silverware success next season, and capturing Perisic may go a long way in helping achieve that feat.
