Paul Lambert and Nigel Adkins among next Hull City manager tips
FootyOn give next Hull City manager tips, with Nigel Adkins and Paul Lambert both towards the head of the betting.
After a seven-match winless run that has seen them slump to just two points and three places above the Championship relegation zone, the Tigers parted company with boss Leonid Slutsky by mutual consent.
Hull are now looking for a fourth different manager this year after Mike Phelan, Marco Silva and the Russian failed to address a slide from the Premier League.
The threat of back-to-back relegations is very real, so even the wantaway Egyptian owners of the Tigers can see that.
Who will the Humberside outfit turn to next? Check out our next Hull City manager tips below…
Is Paul Lambert worth a punt?
Scottish boss Paul Lambert had recent spells with Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, lasting six months (33 games apiece) and he lost these jobs at the end of consecutive seasons.
He is best-known for taking Norwich City from League One to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions before a forgettable chapter in Aston Villa’s decline.
As the Tigers possess plenty of British Isles players and a smattering of talent from overseas, that is the type of squad Lambert is used to working with.
If given time like he was at Carrow Road, then this has the makings of a wise appointment.
Paul Lambert is 3/1 (from 5/2) with BetVictor to be next Hull boss.
Nigel Adkins an appealing alternative
Some 25-30 miles across the Humber at Scunthorpe United, Nigel Adkins did sterling work during almost four years between 2006 and 2010.
He also subsequently took Southampton from League One to the Premier League, just as Lambert did with the Canaries.
Although Adkins’ coaching career has stalled since with unsuccessful spells at Reading and Sheffield United, he has four promotions on his CV.
He’s been out of work for over 18 months now, yet never recorded a win percentage in English league football lower than 36.
Nigel Adkins was strongly linked with the Hull job when Silva left after relegation, so it’s not surprise to find him odds-on favourite at 4/6 with BetVictor.
Simon Grayson an outside shout
Bar Paul Lambert and Nigel Adkins in the early betting, everyone else is a big price.
Of those, however, Simon Grayson looks worth a wager.
Leaving Preston North End for Sunderland over the summer was a mistake, as the Black Cats look rotten to the core.
Given Grayson’s great record with other Yorkshire clubs Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, don’t rule out a swift return to management.
If you’re after an outside shout, then back him at a tempting 25/1 with BetVictor.
