Celtic Champions League odds appeal after struggling start
FootyOn highlight Celtic Champions League odds not to win a group win after their 5-0 home thumping in their pool opener.
BetVictor are 11/8 about Celtic failing to win any of their Champions League Group B games following their Parkhead demolition by PSG.
Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys were 3-0 down at half-time with each of the Parisians’ front three having scored.
Neymar, the world’s most expensive footballer, opening the scoring before new PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe added a second.
Uruguay frontman Edinson Cavani netted twice either side of a Mikael Lustig own goal to complete the rout.
Celtic have now won just one of their 13 Champions League group games since last advancing to the knockout phase in 2012/13.
Bhoys boss Rodgers gave a very candid assessment of his team’s performance after the 5-0 drubbing.
“Three or four levels above us”
“We played like Under-12s at times,” he told the BBC. “With all due respect, where these guys are at it’s not just one or two levels, it’s three or four levels beyond us.
“What we do have to do is always be competitive and we weren’t for that first-half. The second-half, we were much better and we showed the supporters that, and they acknowledged that.”
Having failed to win a single match in their Champions League group last season, which contained Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach and Manchester City, Celtic could well end up in a similar state this term.
Their pool this time contains German giants Bayern Munich and Belgian champions Anderlecht besides French powerhouse PSG.
It is arguably an even tougher group and Celtic Champions League odds of 10/1 say they will lose all six matches.
Nine of their 13 group games since last making it past this stage have ended in defeat, drawing three.
The Bhoys have failed to score in eight of those and not kept a single clean sheet.
