Germany v Mexico tips for Confederations Cup semi-finals
FootyOn provide Germany v Mexico tips ahead of their final 2017 Confederations Cup semi-final clash.
Live on Thursday at 19:00 BST on ITV.
These two teams come into this encounter on the back of being undefeated in this year’s tournament so far, winning two and drawing one of their three group games.
This will be their 11th meeting at senior level, with the Europeans known as Germany or West Germany, and the world champions have only lost once from those previous 10.
Read on for our Germany v Mexico tips…
Mexico to win in extra-time
Although Germany have lost only one of their 10 meetings with Mexico, they have drawn six in normal time.
They have gone into extra-time in a major international tournament before too, at the 1986 World Cup finals, when they drew 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Germany won on penalties that day, but the teams are more equal for this Confed Cup clash, with many high-profile Die Mannschaft stars not being selected for this competition.
With Mexico being previous champions of this event too – Germany are not – and with a full squad of stars, back them to win in extra-time at a huge 14/1 with Sky Bet.
Peralta to score in 90 mins
Oribe Peralta may not be a big name in Europe, having only plied his trade in homeland Mexico, and is a hero in the Central American nation too.
He was even picked ahead of record Aztecs scorer Javier Hernandez in the 2014 World Cup, and rewarded then-boss Miguel Herrera with helping them to a 1-0 victory over Cameroon in the group stage.
Peralta already has a goal this tournament too, against New Zealand, to make it 25 from 60 caps.
He looks set to start again, with Chicharito a fitness doubt, and so is 5/2 also with Sky Bet to net in normal time.
Draw in normal time
If you are unsure of our first tip, but still think the match will go beyond 90 minutes, then why not take a safer bet of 5/2 with BetVictor for the match to be a draw in normal time?
As mentioned above, the duo have drawn six times in 10 meetings, in 90 mins, and as they are very evenly matched this time around look likely to go the distance again.
