Bamford hoping for super Sunday as championship gets underway

Leeds United’s 18/19 championship season gets underway this Sunday as the whites welcome Stoke City, who were relegated last season from the premier league, to Elland Road.

The ‘Potters’ will be hoping for a quick return to the top flight after the ten year stretch in English football’s top tier came to an end last season, however Leeds will be doing everything they can to get them off to the worst possible start. It’s the first time the two sides have met since 2006 with stoke running out 3-1 winners.

Leeds will be looking to turn that form around under new boss Marcelo Bielsa and his recent signing of Patrick Bamford has the Elland road faithful hoping for a bright start to the campaign. Bamford scored eleven goals last season in the championship, three of which he scored in a first ever hatrick against Leeds. He is currently a 9/2 chance to score the first goal in Sundays clash.

Gary Rowett is the new man in charge of Stoke City and he also brings a new striker in Benik Afobe to the club on loan from newly promoted premier league side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Afobe could be the main threat up top for Stoke at Elland Road which sees him second favourite at 11/2 to bag the opener in what looks a very close encounter.
